We took our first flight as a club in 1989 in our first balloon G-RRSG a Thunder and Colt 077.
In 1997 we purchased G-UNGE a Lindstrand balloons 90/A type. This balloon we flew until 2010 when we replaced the envelope with another Lindstrand, this time a 105/B type G-CCXD.
The club had great success with ‘Gunge’ taking chief pilot Mark over the English Channel several times, up to an altitude of 21,500 feet and winning a counties challenge award. It’s also the balloon second pilot Joe did his training and examination flights in. We have the same aspirations for ‘Charlie Charlie’ a fantastic airworthy balloon we want to fly regally, promote the sport and continue as a successful club.
The club consists of 5 people (2 having just retired) and 2 pilots with a fully certified balloon capable of flying up to 3 passengers.
During the last 20 years or more we have travelled all over the world to balloon festivals as far as Sri Lanka, Dubai, Thailand, Qatar. France, Austria, and North Wales! Visiting some 12 countries.
